Students sort 2-D and 3-D shapes by their own and given rules (curved/straight, number of sides, rolls/stacks) and describe shapes with informal property language — the reasoning layer over naming, and the seed of Y2's property work. Counting how many shapes are in each sorted group sets up Y2's tally and table work.
